CFC Service Call: What do you need?

This community has a lot of talented members. If there's a service you need -- content submitted, fiction illustrated, writing edited, websites designed, etc. -- here's a chance to speak up. Maybe someone else in the community will have that skill. What do you need?

I need some help with my website. I have vision, but don't know how to implement it! :/

Hmm...

What are you thinking about doing with your website? I don't code, but I'm pretty good at concept design.

Re: Hmm...

I have a domain and website hosted on wordpress...I really want it to have tabs across the top to click on for different things, and I can't get it out of looking like a blog. I know what I want is possible but I can't wrap my brain around how to get it there. I also need to get something set up on it so people can actually purchase things off there using paypal. I would like them to be able to get things I write digitally, although it's fine if I need to send them a pdf and it doesn't do auto download or something. And possibly I'd like a subscription option, donation button, blah blah. I can do the code for SOME of this but not all of it and it is dragging me down on this project.

Re: Hmm...

There are some really simple ways to do most of what you need using wordpress itself and paypal. I have more experience with wordpress.org than wordpress.com, but if you want to check out what I've done with my site then go to kajoneswriting.co.uk. If you'd like me to help you out then send me an email.

Re: Hmm...

I don't know if you'd personally need to do this, but something I've found that helps me really visualize a web page design is to literally sketch it out. I'll draw the shapes of the buttons and boxes, block in the headers, and scribble in the text fill, just to give me an idea of how it all looks and whether I should tweak the design before I try to get it made.

Also, if you have such a sketch, it can be a useful starting point for discussions with a web designer or coder, because it's a concrete thing that helps them understand what you want.
